Day 1. Transfer from Bucharest Airport to Tulcea, check-in at the Delta Hotel. Welcome dinner and presentation of the itinerary for the following days.
Day 2. In the morning, after breakfast, departure for Crisan, located on the Sulina River. Check-in at a guesthouse by the sea. We will spend the day on the canals and will likely have the opportunity to observe pelicans, white-tailed eagles, herons, grebes, egrets, and other birds.
Day 3. We will travel to Sulina by motorboat. We will visit part of the town and the coastline. Depending on the weather conditions (wind, waves, etc.), we will visit the new island where the European black-backed gull (Ichthyaetus ichthyaetus) usually nests.
Day 4. By boat we go to Letea, perhaps the last traditional fishing village in the delta. With a special charm, the village offers us a window to some magnificent birds such as bee eater, purple heron, red footed falcon, golden oriole, roller, etc… Accommodation in Letea at a traditional guesthouse.
Day 5. We dedicate the day to walking, a visit to the Letea forest with a safari car or horse-drawn carriage. It is an opportunity to see a different delta landscape, with sand dunes like in the Sahara, full of local vegetation. We will experience walking, we will discover a world long forgotten in other countries, traditional houses, a special archaic life. Accommodation also in Letea.
Day 6. After breakfast and a new photographic adventure, we leave for the village of MILA 23, where we will stay for two more nights. We will find in our route purple heron, squacco heron, pelicans, dalmatian pelicans, roller, king fisher, etc…
Day 7. Mile 23 – lakes. It is a special day with the motor boat, we enter small lakes, narrow channels, full of vegetation. It is a day of pelicans, herons, penduline tit, etc…
Day 8. After breakfast we go to Tulcea, on narrow channels, lakes and in the afternoon we arrive in the city. It is definitely a special day, on the route we can see white tailed eagle, herons, woodpeckers, egrets, etc…
Day 9. By car we will go to the Sitorman quarry where we hope to have rosy starling nesting. Other interesting birds there are isabelline whitear, pied whitear, short toed eagle, calandra lark, etc…Return to Tulcea for a last dinner together.
Day 10. Depending on the plane, departure to Bucharest airport. Breakfast provided obviously.
