Der Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufer<\/strong> (Calidris melanotos<\/em>) ist eine Vogelart aus der Familie der Schnepfenv\u00f6gel. Die IUCN stuft den Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufer als (=least concern<\/em> – nicht gef\u00e4hrdet) ein. Der Bestand wird von BirdLife International auf 25.000 bis 100.000 geschlechtsreife Individuen gesch\u00e4tzt<\/p>\n

\"Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufer<\/p>\n

Der Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufer erreicht eine K\u00f6rperl\u00e4nge von 19 bis 23 Zentimeter. Die Fl\u00fcgelspannweite betr\u00e4gt 38 bis 44 Zentimeter, das Gewicht 55 bis 120 Gramm.<\/p>\n

Im Prachtkleid hat der Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufer einen dunkelbraunen, schwarz und braun gestreiften Oberkopf. Die Ohrdecken sind rotbraun und kontrastieren mit den blasseren und feiner gestreiften Wangen. Zwischen Auge und Schnabelbasis verl\u00e4uft ein dunkelbrauner Streif. Der Schnabel ist lang und an der Spitze leicht nach unten gebogen. Die Iris ist dunkelbraun. Die Kehle ist wei\u00df. Der Hals und die Brust sind hell br\u00e4unlich mit einer dunkleren braunen Streifung. Die Zeichnung der Brust bildet ein breites, auffallend gemustertes Band, was zu der englischen Bezeichnung Pectoral Sandpiper<\/em> f\u00fcr diese Art gef\u00fchrt hat. Davon scharf abgesetzt ist die wei\u00dfe K\u00f6rperunterseite.<\/p>\n

Der Mantel und der R\u00fccken sind dunkelbraun mit breiten, kastanienfarbenen oder r\u00f6tlichbraunen S\u00e4umen. Der Vogel wirkt dadurch auf der K\u00f6rperoberseite geschuppt. Der Rumpf und die Oberschwanzdecken sind dunkelbraun bis schwarz, die Rumpfseiten sind wei\u00df, die \u00e4u\u00dferen Schwanzfedern sind grau. Die mittleren Schwanzfedern sind verl\u00e4ngert, was vor allem bei fliegenden Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufern auff\u00e4llig ist.<\/p>\n

Der Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufer weist gro\u00dfe \u00c4hnlichkeit mit dem Spitzschwanzstrandl\u00e4ufer (Calidris acuminata<\/em>) auf. Das wichtigste Unterscheidungsmerkmal zwischen den beiden Arten ist die scharf abgesetzte Brustzeichnung des Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufers.<\/p>\n

Verbreitung<\/h2>\n

Der Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufer kommt im Osten Russlands und im Westen Nordamerikas vor. In Asien br\u00fctet der Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufer von der Taimyrhalbinsel bis zur Tschuktschenhalbinsel. Der Verbreitungsschwerpunkt liegt hier vor allem an der Nordk\u00fcste. Auf den Inseln vor der Nordk\u00fcste fehlt der Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufer bis auf die Wrangelinsel. In Nordamerika br\u00fctet der Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufer vom Nordwesten Alaskas entlang der K\u00fcste des Festlands bis zur Hudson Bay. Er br\u00fctet au\u00dferdem auf der Banksinsel, der Victoriainsel, auf Southampton Island, der Prince-of-Wales-Insel, im S\u00fcden der Parry-Inseln und auf Ellesmere Island. Der Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufer ist ein Zugvogel. Sowohl die V\u00f6gel Russlands als auch die Nordamerikas \u00fcberwintern in S\u00fcdamerika. Ein kleiner Teil der Population findet sich im Winterhalbjahr jedoch auch auf den japanischen Inseln und der koreanischen Halbinsel ein.<\/p>\n

Der Lebensraum des Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufers ist die Tundra. W\u00e4hrend des Winterhalbjahrs h\u00e4lt er sich auf Grasland sowie auf Schwemmfl\u00e4chen in K\u00fcstenn\u00e4he auf.<\/p>\n

Lebensweise<\/h2>\n

Der Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufer frisst \u00fcberwiegend Wirbellose. Eine besondere Rolle in seinem Nahrungsspektrum nehmen Insekten und deren Larven ein. In den \u00dcberwinterungsgebieten frisst er auch Krustentiere und Muscheln.<\/p>\n

Im Winterhalbjahr lebt der Graubruststrandl\u00e4ufer gesellig, in den Brutgebieten dagegen eher einzelg\u00e4ngerisch. Die M\u00e4nnchen besetzen ein Revier und sind polygam. Das Nest ist eine tiefe, in der Vegetation versteckte Mulde. Das Gelege besteht normalerweise aus vier Eiern. Diese sind cremefarben oder blassgr\u00fcnlich und weisen dunkle Flecken auf. Es br\u00fctet \u00fcberwiegend das Weibchen. Die Brutzeit betr\u00e4gt 21 bis 22 Tage. Die frisch geschl\u00fcpften Jungen werden vom M\u00e4nnchen f\u00fcr mehrere Tage gehudert. Sie sind in einem Alter von etwa 30 Tagen fl\u00fcgge und werden als J\u00e4hrlinge geschlechtsreif.<\/p>\n
