Sie ist ein Brutvogel der mediterranen und Steppenzone vom S\u00fcdwesten der Pal\u00e4arktis bis zur <a title=\"Pal\u00e4arktis\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pal%C3%A4arktis\">Zentralpal\u00e4arktis<\/a>. In Mitteleuropa ist sie gelegentlich als seltener Irrgast zu beobachten.<\/p>\n<p>Die Kalanderlerche ist 19&nbsp;cm lang und besitzt eine Fl\u00fcgelspannweite von circa 40 Zentimetern. Sie hat einen gro\u00dfen, dicken <a title=\"Schnabel\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Schnabel\">Schnabel<\/a>, br\u00e4unlichrosa F\u00fc\u00dfe, breite <a title=\"Fl\u00fcgel (Vogel)\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fl%C3%BCgel_%28Vogel%29\">Fl\u00fcgel<\/a> und einen kurzen, kaum ausgeschnittenen <a title=\"Schwanz (Vogel)\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Schwanz_%28Vogel%29\">Schwanz<\/a>. Sie ist oberseits je nach geographischer Verbreitung braun bis hell-sandfarben, mit hellem \u00dcberaugenstreif, <a title=\"Kehle\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kehle\">Kehle<\/a> und <a title=\"Brust\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brust\">Brust<\/a> sind rahmgelb, letztere dunkel gestrichelt, die \u00fcbrigen Unterteile sind wei\u00df, an den Halsseiten mit zwei gro\u00dfen, schwarzen Flecken. Die Schwingen sind unterseits dunkel und haben einen charakteristischen breiten wei\u00dfen Hinterrand. Die Steuerfedern sind braunschwarz, die Schwanzau\u00dfenseiten wei\u00df; das Auge ist braun, der Schnabel oben braun, unten gelblich.<\/p>\n<p>Der im Fliegen vorgetragene Gesang ist \u00e4hnlich der <a title=\"Feldlerche\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Feldlerche\">Feldlerche<\/a>, aber mit langsamerem Takt und vielen rufartigen T\u00f6nen und enth\u00e4lt auch Imitationen.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Vorkommen\" class=\"mw-headline\">Vorkommen<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Sie bewohnt Trockensteppenstandorte und strukturell \u00e4hnliche, vom Menschen geschaffene Standorte (Weiden, d\u00fcrre Getreidefelder) in <a title=\"S\u00fcdeuropa\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/S%C3%BCdeuropa\">S\u00fcdeuropa<\/a>, Nordwestafrika, <a title=\"T\u00fcrkei\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/T%C3%BCrkei\">T\u00fcrkei<\/a> und <a title=\"Turkestan\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Turkestan\">Turkestan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00d6stliche Populationen sind <a title=\"Zugvogel\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zugvogel\">Zugv\u00f6gel<\/a>, westliche Populationen vorwiegend <a title=\"Standvogel\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Standvogel\">Standv\u00f6gel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Nahrung\" class=\"mw-headline\">Nahrung<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Die Nahrung besteht im Sommer aus vergleichsweise gro\u00dfen <a title=\"Insekten\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Insekten\">Insekten<\/a> und im Winter aus <a title=\"Same (Pflanze)\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Same_%28Pflanze%29\">Samen<\/a>. Im Fr\u00fchjahr frisst sie auch gr\u00fcne Triebe.<\/p>\n<p>Das <a title=\"Nest\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nest\">Nest<\/a> befindet sich auf dem Boden in offenem Gel\u00e4nde, meist in einer Mulde, und besteht aus ziemlich grobem Gras, kleinen Bl\u00e4ttern, Sprossen und Wurzeln und ist mit feinem faserigem Pflanzenmaterial ausgekleidet. Das <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Ei (Biologie)\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ei_%28Biologie%29\">Gelege<\/a> besteht aus drei bis sechs bla\u00dfgrauen oder gelblich wei\u00dfen, oliv- oder graubraun gefleckten Eiern.
